Review: The Next Best Fling by Gabriella Gamez

Two broken hearts decide that the best way to get over their first loves is with a no-strings-attached relationship in this spicy and charming debut romance. Librarian Marcela Ortiz has been secretly in love with her best friend for years—and when he gets engaged, she knows it’s long past time to move on. But before she gets the chance, she has a bigger problem to contend with in the form of Theo Young, ex-NFL player and older brother of the man she’s in love with. When she discovers Theo's plans to confess his feelings for his brother’s fiancée at their engagement party, Marcela is quick to stop him—despite how tempting it is to let him run away with the bride-to-be. She manages to convince Theo to sleep off his drunken almost-mistake at her place and when they arrive at a family brunch the next day together, everyone wrongly assumes they hooked up. Since Theo needs a cover for his feelings for the bride and Marcela needs a distraction from her unrequited feelings for the groom,...

Finished Book Series: The Skyland Series by Kennedy Ryan

Image
The series as a whole was wonderful. These couples are not without their own individual hardships but they find a way to make their love work and grow, while still managing to support their friendships. The first book I was lucky enough to receive an ARC. Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan My rating: 5 of 5 stars Emotional and beautiful. I did oddly find myself wanting to put the blame on someone for the end of their marriage. And finding out that this was all because of grief finally got me out of that mindset. I liked that this couple had history. Seeing Josiah work through his fears/grief in therapy was good, especially after his initial reluctance. After a series of tragic losses and the grief that came from those losses, Yasmen asks her husband Josiah for a divorce. Yasmen's life is now moving at a better pace. She's co-parenting with Josiah and running a business together. These ensure involvement in each other's life. Even though they are divorced they still love e...

Review: While The Duke Was Sleeping by Samara Parish

In this whirlwind regency romance, a woman with a secret identity and a rakish bachelor find themselves unable to resist each other. When Adelaide Rosebourne must impersonate her mistress for a few days, it doesn’t seem like it’ll be a difficult task, even if her mistress’s supposed fiancé is in a coma. All she has to do is wait until he wakes up and then convince him to retract the proposal—thereby securing a tidy reward. What she doesn’t count on is the arrival of the duke’s brother and his damned inconvenient interest in her affairs. But does it really matter? She’ll be gone before he finds out the truth. Rhett Montgomery knows two things—that he is woefully unprepared to take over the dukedom, and that the woman who claims to be his brother’s betrothed is not who she says she is. No debutante swears so fiercely or kisses with such recklessness. Investigating is what any good brother would do, isn’t it? As long as he doesn’t start falling for her charms as well. While the Duke...

Review: Good Duke Gone Wild by Bethany Bennett

Image
A bookseller and a duke? She couldn’t have written anything more perfect. Dorian Whitaker, Duke of Holland, needs an heir after his so-called “fairytale marriage” ended in disaster. When the intriguing bookseller he’s hired to liquidate his late wife’s library finds love letters revealing an affair, he is drawn into a mystery alongside a lady whose sharp intellect dazzles him and dares him to imagine a new adventure outside the gilded cage of the Ton. If anyone found out Caroline Danvers writes erotic novels under a pen name, she’d face utter ruin. Except her latest hero inspiration is none other than the Duke of Holland—a man with the power to destroy her family’s bookshop. And yet the real man proves to be so much more than the character she created. Even as they expose the dark secrets of his past, she knows he can never discover her own. But the more time they spend together, the more tempting it is to rewrite their ending and turn fantasy into reality. My Review Good Duke Go...

Review: Tied by Carian Cole

Tyler Grace was many things. A myth. An outcast. A hero. My prince. My childhood and innocence were stolen when I was kidnapped at five years old. For eleven years I clung to my childhood fairytale books, waiting for the prince I hoped would someday save me and carry me off to a happily ever after. I had no idea my savior would come in the form of a scarred recluse, covered in tattoos, who can't--or won't--speak a word. But the moment our eyes met I knew he was the one. My prince. Tyler Grace is haunted by his tragic past and he's sentenced himself to a lifetime of solitude in the woods. He's as lost in society as I am; scarred just as much on the inside as the outside. Just like me. He saved my life that day he found me and killed my captor with his bare hands. I was warned to stay away from him. But I can't stop thinking about him. I ache to hear his voice and see him smile. And I want nothing more than to be the one to break through his walls. I think he's ...

But raising his three rebellious wards alone is proving more than he can handle. He needs to find someone who stands to benefit from a marriage of convenience as much as he does. It's 1814 and nineteen-year-old Eliza Melrose, daughter of a printing magnate, is about to be launched into London's high society - much to her distaste, the last thing she wants is a husband. Eliza's 'misplaced' thirst for adventure, knowledge and the creative word is a bone of contention for her father, who battles endlessly to keep her curiosity and ambitions in check, for women are not meant to ask questions or give opinions in matters of business. My Review One Night with the Duke by Jodi Ellen Malpas My rating: 4 of 5 stars  ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Honestly, I had a hard time with the audio. The performers were great. But I've realized that listening to historicals on audio is not for me. Their chemistry is intense. Every encounter between the two was angsty and unpredictable. I never knew what to expect. I even feared...
