If you can, re-read Book 6 because I initially felt a little lost. Also, the book begins in the past. So you get to see how this relationship first started and how it evolved.
Mei fell in love with her best friend's father when she was seventeen.
Axe-man reminds her of a Viking, big enough to kill with his bare hands, tattooed, and weathered by time.
Mistakes were made that Axe-man paid the price for and when Mei disappeared from his life, he closed his heart to her.
When her best friend calls, Mei makes her way to Entrance to be by her side even if she has to cross paths with Axe-man.
What he doesn't know is that all these years she's been working to atone for her sins by infiltrating the very group that killed his wife.
When Mei is attacked in Entrance, Axe-man and the Fallen decide that it might be best to work together to get the Triad out of Entrance and her away from them.
