What a conclusion! I think I was on the edge of my seat through most of this book.
I knew that Salome was up to no good! It was frustrating how long it took for Azrael to finally see the truth about her. But they were finally able to break the curse and move forward.
I do wonder if we'll get a Raven and Emmanuel book?
Especially as the book picks up where The Tithing leaves off. Azrael learns that his wife Willow, sister, and sister-in-law have been taken by the Disciples. Now he and his brother are frantically searching for them.
What Azrael doesn't realize is that learning what really happens to the sacrifice is what fueled Willow to run in the first place.
Willow is in rough shape when they are rescued. Azrael never leaves her side and it's clear that despite the cruel fate that awaits them, they've fallen in love. But Azrael needs to prove that no matter what she learned from the journal, he intends to keep his promise and keep her safe.
She was prepared to be that sacrifice but things are very different now, the impossible has happened and they may be able to break the bind placed on their families many years ago.
