Holy Smokes! I can't believe how much I loved Niko and Cassie! A man who cherishes her and will burn down the world for her, so my catnip.
One look at Cassie and Nikolai knows that she belongs to him. He saves her from her current situation and decides to keep her and win her over.
For him, she is the sun he needs to illuminate the darkness around him.
She's in danger so she has no choice but to accept his protection.
But that protection comes at a cost. She's no longer fighting to escape and she really doesn't want to because he's made her feel safe for the first time in a long time.
