It’s a terrible idea. We work together, he’s seven years older than me, he’s a single dad, he hates all things magic, but a little taste, and we can’t say no.

Until the town crime wave turns personal, putting everything on the line, and we’ll need more than a magic bullet to get our happily ever after.

I was so engrossed in these two falling in love that I forgot there was a mystery to solve.

Aiden Stone is a single father, a small-town sheriff, and grumpy.

Britt Bailey is a forensic photographer who left town to make her own way.

A series of crimes prompt the mayor and Britt's grandmother to ask her to return to town to help the sheriff with the investigation. Her return to town is an eventful one that literally has her falling into Aiden's arms. He quickly puts her at arm's length, because of their family's history and because while she's here he is her boss.

When she discovers new clues at the crime scenes, they get a clearer idea of who might be responsible. Things are looking up until he finds her teaching his son a card trick and he says some not-so-nice things. His son prompts him to apologize to Britt which leads to their first kiss.

Getting together is a terrible idea but they can't seem to stay away from each other.

When the crime hits closer to home, they'll both have to fight to make their way back to each other.
