The Liar's Crown by Abigail Owen

The Liar’s Crown

Some shadows protect you…others will kill you in this dazzling new fantasy series from award-winning author Abigail Owen.

Everything about my life is a lie. As a hidden twin princess, born second, I have only one purpose—to sacrifice my life for my sister if death comes for her. I’ve been living under the guise of a poor, obscure girl of no standing, slipping into the palace and into the role of the true princess when danger is present.

Now the queen is dead and the ageless King Eidolon has sent my sister a gift—an eerily familiar gift—and a proposal to wed. I don’t trust him, so I do what I was born to do and secretly take her place on the eve of the coronation. Which is why, when a figure made of shadow kidnaps the new queen, he gets me by mistake.

As I try to escape, all the lies start to unravel. And not just my lies. The Shadowraith who took me has secrets of his own. He struggles to contain the shadows he wields—other faces, identities that threaten my very life.

Winter is at the walls. Darkness is looming. And the only way to save my sister and our dominion is to kill Eidolon…and the Shadowraith who has stolen my heart.

My Review

The Liar’s Crown by Abigail Owen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Wow...what an amazing read. It took me a little extra time to get through this one because I needed to take my time absorbing this tale.
I was on the edge of my seat the last few chapters and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Eighteen years earlier, twins were born. One princess will go on to rule the dominion of Aryd and the other princess will serve as a secret body double in dangerous situations.
Now that the queen is dead, Meren's sister will take her rightful place as queen and Meren will live in her shadows. With their enemy, King Eidolon set to arrive for the coronation, Meren will step in to take her place. The night before Meren is taken by mistake by the Shadowraith also known as Reven.

He's taken her to a place where he protects beings from different dominions, in order to ask for her help in taking down King Eidolon. Reven and Meren closely guard their secrets as they try to navigate the best way to see their plan through and save her sister.

Meren never expected she'd fall in love with Reven.

Thank you so much to the author, Entangled and NetGalley for this ARC to review.
