I really enjoyed this from beginning to end. I was not prepared for that ending and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book!
This book is Eva Morelli's story.
Her love interest is Finn Hughes. He comes from another wealthy family on Bishop's Landing. While overseeing yet another Morelli party, Eva is introduced to an old man ready to marry again. Finn overhears this and steps in to get her mother to back off a bit.

Finn has always felt drawn to Eva but never acted on it before. He's been busy secretly running his family business. His father has a debilitating disease that he'll eventually get as well.

He suggests they fake date each other. This will keep her mother from bothering her and society's mothers from pestering him.

Pretty soon things between them start to feel real. But Finn will not reconsider his ideas about marriage and children. He doesn't want to put anyone through his future illness, especially Eva. When he finally ends things Eva discovers something that will change her life forever and she's prepared to do it on her own.
