OH NO! This ended on a cliffhanger and could not breathe!
The push and pull between these two is very intense and before you know it, the book leaves you holding your breath as you wait to see what will happen next.
I also found myself on the verge of tears right there with Mercedes as she's recovering.

After attempting to hurt her brother's wife, Mercedes De La Rosa is sent to Judge Matthews.
Both are a part of The Society. An elite group of families who hold power, and great wealth and use their women to make strategic moves among themselves.

After her last stunt, it is up to Judge to help correct her behavior and prepare her to become the future wife of a member of the Society.

Not sure what to expect, she tries to flirt with him and when that doesn't work she fights his requests. But Judge is ready for all these attempts until a moment catches him off guard and he's all over her.

Each swears it will never happen again. But their attraction grows and she begins to follow his rules until one day she's pushed to her limit by the housekeeper. Judge refuses to believe Mercedes even with the injuries to her body and forces her to apologize, humiliating her once again.

Her demeanor changes and things are once again very tense between them. He does his best to keep away from the house and her but he's growing tired of seeing her fade away.
