Tessa finally gets her man! I've always liked the chemistry these two characters have had since the very first book but Tessa remained with Karl through all his jerkiness. We learn what's kept her tied to him. We also learn that she lost her parents as a teenager and her barely legal brother step up to raise her with help from Eden's dad.

Milo had a rough upbringing. When he and his mother left that situation he fell in with a dangerous man who used Milo's rage to make money. When he met his future wife he walked away from that life to build a promising future with her, only to have her taken away from him by the very man he once trusted.

Through the women in his life, Milo's eyes are finally opened to the truth. He's in love with Tessa.

After breaking up with that jerk Karl, Tessa finds herself staying with Milo.
Being so close to one another has their feeling come to the surface. Milo tries to fight what he's feeling for Tessa in order to protect her from his dark past. But he finds himself drawn to her light.

When she learns about his in-laws keeping his children from him, she offers to be his fake fiance.

Just when they find themselves ready to take this relationship seriously the past comes back to haunt Milo, putting Tessa in danger. He'll do anything to protect her even if it means walking away.
