I really enjoyed this book once I got past the first few chapters. I was having a hard time concentrating on the story.
I loved that Liliana and her friends were strong women. Who knew how to handle weapons and weren't afraid to use them.
Max aka Matteo has one goal in mind. Protect his mentor's granddaughter Liliana at all cost. So he poses as an assassin in her father's outfit, assigned as her new bodyguard.
Liliana knows all she is a pawn in her father's pursuit for power. She'll never be free because her only way out from under his rule is marriage. And it'll be to someone he chooses.
After learning that her father has signed a marriage contract for her to a man she loathes, she gathers herself and hides before attempting to make her escape. When Max shows up, she's sure he'll stop her but he's actually there to help her.
